What Mobile Technology Means to me....and you!

We talk to it. We fiddle with it throughout the day. Sleep with it. We wake up to it.

It can drive us nuts but for some reason we can't live without it. Yep...you guessed it...I'm talking about your smartphone! The one thing that somehow keeps us going.

Do you remember when phones were stuffed into what looked like carry-on luggage? I sure do. it was the coolest thing since sliced bread hit the streets.

Managing nearly every aspect of my daily tasks with my phone is still a foreign concept to grasp. Sometimes I do miss the days when each person had one phone number, one email and one address. Now it seems like I'm trying every method of communication to get a hold of someone. Sometimes even resorting to 'Face-booking!' It's exhausting.

Now, I can order a pizza, send email, check my bank account, and listen to music from anywhere.

Although the idea of 'anywhere' seems great, we all know this to be frustrating when it comes to mobile devices and services...and when they decide to work. There are so many mobile carriers out there that claim to provide topnotch service to their users. I call rubbish!

If this were true, how come 1 in 10 calls are dropped when I'm in the middle of a conversation?

My mobile carrier and I, have been in a complicated, communication lacking relationship for over a year now. Often I find myself giving up on this so called 'relationship' due to the lack of commitment from my provider. We agreed to be there for each other...talk when there are issues, communicate things to each other, and function together....now I find myself going nuts. How can one promise so many things then make you feel empty handed?

I'm giving 100% each and every month, only to receive mediocrity.

My lifeline has failed me on numerous occasions. I've missed job opportunities to dead spots, lost clients to failed messages and missed quotes due to undelivered data. I've seriously committed 2 years of my life to trusting a mobile partner that has just led to despair.

I know that there are millions of users and that there will be glitches but I don't want to be just a number. When I think of a mobile commitment, I think of trust, communications, conflict resolution and compatible financial values. It's a two-way street and both parties are responsible to see things through until the end.

On a positive note, 9 out of 10 times I get full functionality. When in complete working mode, I can do just about anything. I'm able to set my alarm, check my calendar, schedule appointments, see the weather forecast, get sports updates, email, pay bills and check my Facebook.

In reality, this concept is hard because I have no clue what I would do if these luxuries were non-existent! There is no doubt that I'd be late to every appointment, get lost or be broke because I couldn't track my finances.

With mobile communications we demand reliable service and a committed partner to direct and assist us consumers. However, one of the most frustrating things about our 'partner' is the wait. Wait on hold, wait to be transferred or wait to get a call back. Are they really that busy?

Don't you wish there was one number to call and one person to speak with when we need something?

Fortunately, my company has just partnered with Verizon and AT&T and gives you that one number and one representative. The onsite account managers and tech team are always ready to help.
